Lesson 272 - Beginning from Hadeeth 978 from 'THE BOOK OF I'TIKAF''

CHAPTER 1. The superiority of praying (Nawâfil) at night in Ramadân.

باب: فَضْلُ مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَان

972. عَنْ عَائِشَةَ, رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا: أَنّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَرَجَ لَيْلَةً في جَوْفِ اللّيْلِ, فَصَلّى في المَسْجِدِ, وَصَلّى رِجَالٌ بِصَلاَتِهِ تَقَدّم هذا الحَديث في كِتابِ الصّلاة, وبَيْنَهُما مُخالَفَة في اللّفْظِ, وقَالَ في اَخِرِ هذِهِ الرّوايَة: فَتُوُفّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَالأَمْرُ عَلَى ذلِكَ. رواه البخاري: 2012

972. Narrated Aisha رضى الله عنها : Allâh's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم went out in the middle of the night and offered Salât (prayer) in the mosque and some men offered Salât (prayer) behind him. This Hadith is repeated. (Please see Ahadith Nos. 423 and 424). So Allâh's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم died and the situation remained like that (i.e. people offered Salât (prayer) individually).
